Kitalan Kittens offered for Family Pets: Kitalan has a select few litters throughout the year. While we strive to produce Cats that are eligible for the show ring, we occasionally have little ones who prefer to be spoiled lap companions. We carefully choose our breedings for health, beauty and temperament. Pet Kittens do not leave Kitalan until they are 12-14 weeks of age. They are already spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated and thoroughly examined by our veterinarian. Our kittens are very dear to us and we wish to ensure that they will live a life filled with love, dignity, good nutrition and health. Once you purchase a kitten from Kitalan, you become part of our extended family. We wish to remain involved and are here to answer any questions that you may have. Visitation is encouraged once the Kittens have reached 12-14 weeks of age and are protected by vaccination. Due to the risk of exposure to illness and/or disease during the first weeks of their lives, Kitalan does not accept visitors prior to this time. We fully understand however, how truly exciting it is to welcome a new kitten into your home and that the wait can seem unbearable at times !! To help you through this we will provide pictures of your baby weekly, as he or she develops so that you can experience their growth. Most times these pictures can be found here on our website or will be E-mailed to you privately. While we understand that some people wish to visit with all of the Cats in their environment prior to purchasing a Kitten we've made the difficult, but necessary decision to not permit this. Unfortunately and despite added protection of vaccination there are many illnesses and diseases that purebred cats can fall victim to. While we are fully aware that you would never knowingly bring a virus into our home the risk for such exists and therefore necessitates our position. For your peace of mind we will provide references, upon request so that you may be assured that you are making the best choice when purchasing a Kitalan Kitten. The good news is that because of our stringent practices you can feel confident in knowing that your kitten has had the best start in life and that their health has been protected to the best of our ability. All Kitalan kittens are microchipped prior to leaving for their new home. For the safety of our kittens and peace of mind for us this chip remains registered in our name throughout the life of the cat. Further details can be found in our contract. We have designed it to protect you as the buyer, we as the breeders and most important to protect our kittens.  Declawing of Kitalan Cats is forbidden. We believe this procedure to be a cruel and unnecessary procedure. A cats claws can be successfully managed through regular trimming and ensuring the availability of appropriate scratching posts. We will be happy to discuss proper claw care with you should you have any questions. Some people prefer to trim their cats claws themselves while others prefer to have their Veterinarian do so. If you are unfamiliar with claw trimming, we can do this together when you pick up your kitten :-) When contacting us please tell us about yourself. This is very important to us and we are not likely to respond if you do not make this effort. We have lots of questions but please do not feel intimidated. Our only interest is ensuring that our Kittens are placed in the best possible home. Tell us a bit about life at your home, your experience with animals and what you're hoping for in a kitten. Conversely, please feel free to ask us as many questions as you like as well. It wouldn't be fair otherwise, now would it :-) Once we have received your inquiry we will E-mail you back and set up a phone appointment. While the Internet is a wonderful thing there is no replacement for a good old-fashioned conversation. We have full time jobs (without it, we wouldn't be able to afford this hobby :-) so we will schedule a mutually agreeable evening or weekend time to talk. We're always happy to discuss the cats of Kitalan :-) Breeder/Show Kittens: Purchasing a Show Cat is a very exciting and special experience for both the purchaser and us as the Breeders. Kitalan offers kittens for breeding and show (including Premiership) to small caring registered Catteries whose practices and goals are similar to ours. Kitalan Show Cats are not released to their new home until they have reached at least 4 months of age. This gives us both the opportunity to assess the kittens development and competitive potential in the ring. Our lines are usually mature enough to make their debut in the kitten class . While we recognize that some form of caging is occasionally necessary, we wish for our breeder/show cats to be a part of your family as opposed to primarily housed in a cage. We believe in DNA testing for PKD. We require that you are registered with and show with CFA. If we are not familiar with your Cattery or have not met you previously we require references from other CFA registered breeders that we are mutually familiar with. We are happy to offer the same to you. It is critical that we both are comfortable with each other and that a level of trust is established. Having had a unfortunate experience ourselves purchasing a cat from an established, well-known breeder we know just how important it is to receive a fair and honest evaluation of the cat that we may consider to join your breeding program. To that end you can expect from us an objective assessment of the cat regarding it's faults and assets. We require a contract for all breeder/show cats/kittens. If you are interested in a Kitalan cat for show please contact us privately for availability and further details. Pricing and Payment: Kittens are priced individually. A $200 deposit is required to hold your kitten. This deposit is non-refundable should you decide to not purchase the kitten. We fully understand however that sometimes circumstances can change and that there may be a better time for you to welcome a Kitalan Kitten into your home. Should this occur and you wish to purchase a kitten at another time the forfeited deposit can be used towards the final purchase price on the new kitten. A new deposit that will also be credited towards the final purchase price will be required to hold the new kitten. We require that deposits are received within 5 days from when we both decide that the kitten will be reserved for you. In the event that the deposit is not received the kitten may be made available for purchase from others that have inquired. The remaining purchase price is due 10 days prior to the pick up of your new kitten. Should you change your mind and decide not to purchase the kitten in the 10 days prior to picking it up you will be refunded the purchase price less the non-refundable $200 deposit. Understanding Availability of Kitalan Kittens: Available Kittens listed as "available" are kittens who are not spoken for. You can request to reserve a specific kitten by sending us an E-mail as outlined above and scheduling a phone appointment. Reserved Kittens listed as "reserved" are kittens who have an interested party, although a deposit has not yet been received. We will continue to accept additional inquiries on these kittens. Should the deposit not be received within the agreed upon time frame the kitten will be available for purchase from additional inquiries in the order that they were received. Hold Kittens listed as on "hold" are kittens that we have received a deposit on. We will continue to accept additional inquiries on these kittens until full payment has been received. Should the kitten become available the kitten will be offered for purchase from the additional inquiries in the order that they were received. Sold Kittens listed as "sold" are kittens that we have received full payment on. Inquiring about a sold kitten is not discouraged as the purchaser has 10 days to change their mind after sending in their full payment. In the rather unlikely event that this kitten becomes available the kitten will be offered to those that inquired in the order that the inquiries were received. Placed Kittens listed as "placed" are kittens that have left Kitalan and are now in their forever homes :-) Please click here if you wish to be added to our mailing list.
